Balaclava Backpackers

Ukrainian Hostels, Bunkhouses and Camping Barns

Balaclava is an attractive and historic town in the Crimea, for many years shut as a secret naval base, but now fully open. Enjoy the pretty harbour, waterfront cafés, boat trips, Genoese Fort, the fantastic Cold War Submarine Museum, the Crimean War Museum, local wines and great coastal scenery.

Public Transport:
From Sebastopol take the 17 or 20 trolleybus or 25 or 26 minibus (called a “topic” locally) to km 5 on the Balaclava road (“pyaty kilometr Balaklavskogo shosse”), then the no. 9 minibus (every 10 mins) to “Kadykovka”.
  Directions:
From Balaclava waterfront go north, old naval base walls to your left. Keep left at the fork with a park. Cross the railway. Pass the town hall. Immediately after the second railway crossing turn west. Keep north of the railway, until the road crosses it and zig-zags. Drapushko Street and the Varshava shop are then visible. The hostel is 100 m west, on the left. Walking takes about 25 mins.
